Uploading Custom Sounds for CrazyPBX

CrazyPBX allows you to upload and use custom audio for IVRs, Announcements, Hold Music, and Voicemail Messages. This guide will help you upload and troubleshoot custom sound files.

How to Upload a Custom Sound

Step 1: Sign In to the Crazytel Customer Portal

  1. Visit the Crazytel Customer Portal.
  2. Log in with your credentials.
  3. Click on CrazyPBX to access the PBX portal.

Step 2: Upload Your Custom Sound

  1. If you have a custom sound file, follow these steps to upload it. If not, check out CrazyPBX's Speech Generator for assistance.
  2. Navigate to Sound Manager > Custom Sounds.
  3. Click Upload New Sound (top right corner).
  4. Enter a name and select a category (e.g., Christmas Hold Music 2024 under Music).
  5. Add a brief description, including the upload date for version tracking.
  6. Choose the file and click Upload Sound.

Step 3: Test the Sound

  1. Go to the sound’s category in Sound Manager.
  2. Click the Play Icon to listen.
  3. If no audio plays, try troubleshooting or contact support.

Step 4: Use the Sound

Your custom sound is now available in the sounds drop-down menu when creating or editing an inbound feature.

Troubleshooting

No Sound Plays on the Website

  • Check if your browser and audio output are muted.
  • Refresh the page using CTRL + F5.
  • Delete the file, convert it to .wav (see below), and re-upload.

No Sound Plays in a Call

  • Ensure the audio plays on the website.
  • Verify the file is correctly assigned to the parent feature.
  • Confirm the parent feature is set in routing.
  • Delete the file, convert it to .wav, and re-upload.

Converting to .wav Format

CrazyPBX tries to convert uploaded files, but if issues arise, follow these steps:

  1. Visit g711.org.
  2. Upload your file to the free converter.
  3. Use the default settings (16-bit WAV, 8kHz, Mono, 16-bit PCM).
  4. Click Submit to convert the file.
  5. Download the new .wav file and re-upload it to CrazyPBX Custom Sounds.
