"Unauthorized" on outbound calls when using a Verified Caller ID

Crazytel can present Verified Caller IDs as your caller ID. Occasionally, calls using verified caller ID do not connect, instead showing an "Unauthorised" message on screen -- here's why!

What verifying your Caller ID does:

Verifying your Caller ID with Crazytel links the number to your Crazytel account, and verifies you hold this number (or have rights of use) with Crazytel.

Caller ID verification does not confirm or verify your rights of use with the number's true carrier (the service provider holding the number).

So why are my calls unauthorised?

Each time you place a call to a non-Crazytel number, Crazytel must confirm the call with the service provider you are connecting to. When you call a number on the service provider's network, this call is often rejected automatically.

For example, verifying a Telstra number with Crazytel, then calling a secondary Telstra number using the Verified Caller ID requires Telstra's permission to connect the call.
Telstra, per its Cleaner Pipes Initiative, requires confirmation of verified CID status. Crazytel is currently developing a process to automate this (nobody likes triplicate paperwork!)
