Time Switch Configuration Guide

Overview

Configure a Time Switch to route calls based on schedules, ensuring your communications infrastructure adapts to your organization's dynamic needs.

Tips:

  • Ensure the completed Time Switch is set as a destination for a number.
  • Call Forwarding to numbers requires call forwarding to be enabled on the account (My Account My Account)
  • Call Forwarding to numbers requires E.164 format (IE: (02) 1234 9876 becomes 61212349876)

 

Step-by-Step Configuration

  1. Access Your Portal
    Begin by logging in to your account through the online portal.

  2. Navigate to Time Switch Settings
     - From the left-hand menu, select 'Number Management'.
     - Click on 'Time Switches'.
     - Choose 'Add New Time Switch' to create a new configuration.

  3. Define Your Time Switch
    Essential Details:
    - Name: Assign a descriptive name to your Time Switch for easy identification.
    - Description: Provide additional context (optional but recommended for clarity).
    Default Routing Configuration (Specify how calls are handled outside of your defined schedules, choose from the following options):
         + Device: Route to a specific device.
         + Server: Redirect to a designated server.
         + URI (Uniform Resource Identifier): Use for more customized routing needs.
         + Call Forward: Forward calls to another number.
         + Voicemail: Send calls directly to voicemail.
         + Ring Group: Distribute calls across a group of devices.
         + Auto Attendant: Engage callers with an automated attendant.
         + Announcement: Play a pre-recorded message.
    Time Zone: Select the time zone under which your Time Switch will operate. This ensures scheduling consistency with your location.

  4. Configure Routing Type
    Choose one of the two routing options that best fits your scheduling needs:
    - Weekly Based Routing:
        + Select Specific Days: Choose any day(s) of the week.
        + Specify Device/Server for Each Day: Route to a particular device or server for each selected day.
    - Time Span Routing:
        + Override Weekly Route for a Specific Date and Time: Temporarily alter the weekly schedule for one-time events or exceptions.

  5. Activate Your Time Switch:
    - Save: Click the Save button to confirm your configurations. The new settings will take effect in approximately one minute.
    - Routing: Update the primary (or secondary) destination for the DID you want time-switched to use your newly created Time Switch 

 

 

Troubleshooting

Confirm the Time Switch is being used as a primary or secondary destination for a number.

If changes do not reflect after the suggested wait time, try refreshing your portal page or contact support for assistance.
