No sound on calls (Crazyphone application)

Overview

Having no audio on calls can be incredibly frustrating. This guide aims to help troubleshoot common causes of no-audio issues with the Crazyphone application.

 

Application settings

Outgoing Audio (other people can't hear me!)

The Crazyphone application offers some key settings regarding audio. In the Crazyphone application, tap the Spanner icon in the top corner of the main app screen, then tap Preferences, followed by Sound.

  • Ensure the Microphone volume boost slider is 50% or higher: having too low a pre-amp microphone signal can result in audio that's too quiet to hear (or sometimes register as an input) on the other party's phone
  • Test the call again with Outgoing Noise Suppression disabled: occasionally the application can suppress voice as microphone noise, resulting in no audio being sent.

If the above troubleshooting steps don't resolve the issue, please contact support.

Incoming Audio (I can't hear the other person!)

Check the following settings to ensure the incoming audio isn't being muted:

  • In the Crazyphone app, tap the Spanner icon, followed by Preferences, then Sound. Ensure the Playback Volume Boost slider is 50% or higher: having too low a playback volume will stop sounds.
  • In your device settings, ensure application volume settings are at a comfortable level
  • While on a call with no volume, enable the Speaker button to direct audio over the phone's loudspeaker
