Time Switches help route calls based on business hours, ensuring no unwanted calls during weekends or after hours.
How to Create a Time Switch
Step 1: Sign In to the Crazytel Customer Portal
- Visit the Crazytel Customer Portal.
- Log in with your credentials.
- Click on CrazyPBX to access the PBX portal.
Step 2: Creating the Time Switch
- Navigate to Inbound Features > Time Switches.
- Click Setup New Time Switch (top right corner).
- Enter a unique number for the Time Switch
- Enter a unique number and a nickname for easy identification.
- Skip the default destination field.
- Select the Time Zone for the Time Switch
Step 3: Configure Time Switch Rules
Weekly/recurring Time Switch
This routes calls based on regular business hours, sending after-hours calls to a default destination.
- Click Add Rule
- Select Weekly from the drop-down menu
- Choose the weekdays this rule applies to (e.g., business days).
- Set the Start and End time (e.g., business hours)
- Select the call destination
- Click Create
For varying business hours (e.g., different weekend hours), add additional rules for those specific days. (See Below)
Time Span Time Switches
Use this for holiday closures or special periods where standard hours do not apply.
Time Span Rules override Weekly Rules, allowing you to set and forget holiday periods. Weekly Rules will take effect when the Time Span ends.
- Click Add Rule
- Select Time Span from the drop-down menu
- Enter the start and end time/date for the period
- Choose the call destination during this time
- Click Create
(Example: A rule can send all calls to voicemail during a holiday shutdown from December 20, 2024, at 5:00 PM to January 6, 2025, at 8:00 AM.)
Step 4: Add the Time Switch to Call Routing
Time Switches are best used as a primary destination for a DID to prevent unnecessary IVR navigation when a business is closed.
- Ensure the Time Switch appears in the Time Switches page.
- Navigate to Number Manager > Routing Manager.
- Find the number you want to route and click the pencil icon.
- Set the Primary Route to CrazyPBX and the Primary Destination to the Time Switch nickname.
- Click Save Changes
