This article aims to outline the setup process for Fax to Email. Fax to Email is responsible for converting inbound fax messages to pdf files, and sending these to an email address.
⚠️WARNING: ⚠️Crazytel's Fax to Email and Email to Fax system is currently experiencing issues with on-net faxes. Faxes sent to other Crazytel numbers will not be delivered correctly.

Crazytel charges $0.0050 per fax page received.
OCR incurs an additional charge of $0.0025 per fax page received.
Setting up Crazytel's Fax to Email
Step 1: Access Your Account
- Navigate to the Crazytel portal at portal.crazytel.com.au.
- Log in using your existing credentials. Don't have an account? Sign up directly from the portal.
Step 2: Set up Fax to Email
- Using the left navigation menu, select the Virtual Fax heading, then the Secure Fax To Email option
- Click Create Secure Fax (top right)
- Enter a nickname for easy identification. Nicknames must be unique.
- Enter the destination email address. Email addresses do not need to be unique.
- (Optional) Enter a PDF password to encrypt the PDF file.
NB: You must enter a password or use PGP to make the fax service secure. - (Optional) Enable OCR (Optical Character Reader) for incoming faxes. This will attempt to convert hand-written or printed text into machine-encoded text, allowing copy/pasting.
NB: OCR incurs an additional fee of $0.0025 per page received. - (Optional) Enable Auto-delete for incoming faxes. This will delete the fax message of Crazytel's servers once the fax has been received at your email address.
- (Optional) Enter a PGP key.
NB: You must enter a password or use PGP to make the fax service secure. - Click Submit (bottom left) to create the Fax to Email box
Step 3: Bring the Fax to Email box into routing
- Select Number Management from the left hand navigation menu, then the My Numbers option
- Click the number you'd like to use as an inbound fax number
- Under the "Send Calls to" First Destination section, set the Type of Forwarding drop-down to Secure Fax. Set the Forwarding Destination to the Nickname of your secure fax inbox.
