Prerequisites
Ensure you have an account with Crazytel. If not, create one at portal.crazytel.com.au.
Ensure you have an address present in your address list (Number Management > Address List)
Purchasing and Setting Up Your Number
Step 1: Access the Portal and Navigate to Number Management
- Log in to the Crazytel portal at portal.crazytel.com.au using your credentials.
- Once logged in, locate and click on "Number Management" in the left-hand menu.
- Within Number Management, select "Buy A Number".
Step 2: Select Your Desired Number Type
- Utilize the drop-down menus to choose the "Type of Number" you wish to purchase.
- After selecting your preferred number, click the corresponding "Buy Now" button to complete the purchase.
Step 3: Assign an Address to Your New Number
- Select an Address from the provided drop-down list to assign to your newly purchased number.
- Click Assign to link the address with your number.
Step 4: Configure Call Forwarding for Your Number
To start receiving calls, you'll need to assign your number to a SIP Trunk and configure forwarding. Follow these sub-steps on the "Edit DID Details" (Number Management > My Numbers, then click the red number)
- Select Type of Forwarding based on your specific needs.
Disable Temporarily stop receiving calls on this DID. Device Ideal for soft-phone or ATA configurations. Select the applicable "SIP Trunk" from the right-hand drop-down. Server Suitable for PBX setups. Choose the relevant "SIP Trunk" from the right-hand drop-down. URI Forward your DID via SIP URI.
Use the format{E164}@sip.example.com:5060
for international numbers or{alphanumeric}@198.51.100.45:5060
for a specific full URI.Remember to include the port and do not prefix with 'sip:'.
Call Forwarding Redirect calls to another number.
Enter mobile/landline numbers in61
format.
Note: Additional charges may apply. - Forwarding Destination: Depending on your chosen forwarding type, either select the SIP Trunk or enter the forwarding details as described above.
- Save Your Changes: Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save" to activate your settings.
Troubleshooting
Buying numbers:
- Check there is an address present in the address list (Number Management > Address List):
- This can only handle physical addresses, not postal addresses (no PO boxes!).
- If you are having issues adding an address, try removing the 'Unit' or 'Level' information, and enter the physical street address instead.
- "DID Assignment Failed" error:
- This is an internal server error and will need Crazytel Staff to resolve. Take note of the phone number you were attempting to purchase, and contact support with this information.
Calls sound Busy, or show as 'Declined'
- No primary route:
- Check the health status of the number under "Number Management" > "My Numbers". If the status is 'Unhealthy', or RED, set a primary destination per Step 4 of this article.
- SIP Trunk is not registered:
- Check the registration status of the SIP Trunk you're routing calls to under "SIP Trunks". If the SIP Trunk is not registered, check the article "Registering SIP Trunks"
- Call Forwarding does not work:
- Check "Call Forwarding" is enabled on your account under "My Account" > "My Account" -> "Call Forwarding".
- Check if a SIP Trunk exists under "SIP Trunks". Call Forwarding requires an SIP Trunk for billing to be applied properly
- Check the format of the call forwarding destination;
